For our previous exhibition called “Re-Source”, the gallery has engaged a heterogeneous group of young Emirati contemporary artists to use our premises as a project space, giving them a chance to experiment their ideas within a professional environment.
"The new generation of plastic artists, cherish the idea of challenging the prevalent attitudes and notions and are willing to step into unknown territories and new spaces. They therefore possess that sharp wit and cynicism that is at times abrasive to conventional sensibilities. In the U.A.E, just like in other parts of the world bearing a futuristic outlook, there are many contrasting elements: an ethnically diverse demographic, a mixture of languages, traditions, fashions, styles, music etc… Although these elements are very different, they are able to inhabit the same space in total harmony".
"These elements have symbols and indications that differ from one person to the other and also depend on the 'psychological moment' the artist is living in. the artists of the U.A.E were able to capture that moment in art. This unique experience, a culmination of psychological, social and cultural experiences, had since defined the distinctive characteristics of U.A.E artists as they manifest themselves in the exhibitions, biennials and artistic activities the artists participate in."
"The artists have been able to use these different contrasting elements to create a contemporary visual dialectical treatment and they were given opportunity to spread this new dialectical message through participating in numerous international exhibitions and artistic events outside of U.A.E."
